Samsung Korea confirmed earlier this month that the Galaxy S8 Plus with 6GB of RAM will become available, and it seems like the company underestimated the demand for that particular Galaxy S8 Plus model. This variant of the Galaxy S8 Plus comes with 128GB of internal storage, and it is currently exclusive to South Korea, even though it will probably come to China soon as well. Samsung had started shipping out Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus units in South Korea on Tuesday, and it seems like the company run out of stock when it comes to the 6GB RAM variant of the Galaxy S8 Plus, read on.
Samsung made 150,000 6GB RAM Galaxy S8 Plus units, but it seems like that’s not enough for consumers in South Korea, despite the fact this phone is considerably more expensive than its siblings, it costs $1,020 in Korea, well, the equivalent to that price. Samsung has seen 210,900 Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus activations on the first day, though that number fell to 63,400 yesterday, and it seems like the 6GB RAM variant of the Galaxy S8 Plus is to blame for that. For those of you who do not recall, Samsung actually received over one million pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus in Korea, and by doing that, they set a new record, not only for themselves, but for the country. The 6GB RAM variant of the Galaxy S8 Plus sure is in high demand, and it remains to be seen how long will it take Samsung to make more of those units.
The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus handsets are made out of metal and glass, and they’re basically identical in terms of the design, while they also share the vast majority of specs as well. The only difference between the two devices is in the battery department, while the Galaxy S8 Plus’ display is also bigger. Now, the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant of the Galaxy S8 Plus differs in the RAM and storage department as well, as regular Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus units ship with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage, which is expandable. In any case, it will be interesting to see how long will it take Samsung to make more 6GB RAM Galaxy S8 Plus units, and now many devices will the company sell on a global scale this year.
