ASUS started pushing out the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the ZenFone 3 Deluxe, or more specifically, the ZS570KL model of the device. The mid-range variant of the ZenFone 3 Deluxe (ZS550KL) already started receiving the latest major iteration of Google's ubiquitous operating system earlier this month, so it isn't surprising that the Taipei-based consumer electronics manufacturer is now also updating the flagship model of its 2016 Android phone. As expected, the package is being rolled out as an over-the-air (OTA) update in stages, so you may have to wait a few days before you get to download it. Alternatively, owners of the ZenFone 3 Deluxe (ZS570KL) can try scanning for the update manually by navigating to the "About device" section of their Settings app.
Following the update to Android 7.0 Nougat, the ZenFone 3 Deluxe no longer supports the ASUS Share Link app and also loses support for the so-called ShakeShake gesture, in addition to scrapping a number of live wallpapers. On the bright side, the latest major iteration of Android adds a plethora of new features to the ZenFone 3 Deluxe, including Multi Window support, performance tweaks, and an improved Doze Mode. Additionally, the new update also improves NFC support on the ASUS-made Android smartphone. It took around a week for the ZenFone 3 Deluxe (ZS550KL) to be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat, and ASUS is estimating that the rollout for the ZenFone 3 Deluxe (ZS570KL) will also take up to seven days to be completed.
The ZenFone 3 Deluxe (ZS570KL) was initially released last August, two months before its cheaper counterpart hit the market. The phone features a 5.7-inch display panel with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels and is powered by a 3,000mAh battery. The more expensive variant of the ZenFone 3 Deluxe (ZS570KL) is fueled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 system-on-chip (SoC) and 6GB of RAM, in addition to featuring up to 256GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot. The phone has a 23-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front one, ships with a USB Type-C port, and boasts a fingerprint sensor on its rear plate. It's currently unclear whether ASUS will update the ZenFone 3 Deluxe (ZS570KL) to Android 8.0 at some point in the future, but more information on the matter will hopefully be available later this year.
