VRS Design High Pro Shield Case for LG G6 Review

The LG G6 is the newest smartphone to join the "metal and glass" club, which means one thing. That is you're going to want a case to protect this smartphone, as it is pretty slippery. Of course, you don't want something that is super flimsy, or something that doesn't look good. Luckily the High Pro Shield is neither of those. This case from VRS Design is a great looking case that also provides plenty of coverage and protection for your smartphone. The High Pro Shield is available in a slew of colors, although the backside is always in black, the frame does come in different colors. These include dark silver, satin silver, shine gold, rose gold and blue mist. This case is available for $29.99 (at the time of writing), that's pretty pricey for a case these days, so let's find out if it really is worth that price.

VRS Design didn't reinvent the wheel, so to speak, when it came to the High Pro Shield. This is a case that they have had available for quite some time, and it has been one of their most popular ones. Likely because it is a fairly thin case, but still offers plenty of protection for your device. The backside of the case has a rigid feel, giving you some grip to your LG G6, making it tougher to drop, always important. The case is a TPU case, and it does also attract dirt quite easily. The back of the device has cut outs for the camera module as well as one for the power button/fingerprint sensor. There are also a couple of cutouts at the top for the microphone and 3.5mm headphone Jack. Finally at the bottom we have another microphone, USB-C port and the speaker cut out. The volume rocker is not cut out, but it does have a sliver of the TPU case on it, making it easier to press. While the rest of the sides are covered by the frame of the case.

While this is a fairly thin case, it does add a good bit of protection. Since there is the TPU layer, followed by the polycarbonate frame, it allows the case to take a bit more of the impact than you would normally expect. This is important because you want the case to take the impact, rather than your phone. Since the case is often times much cheaper and easier to replace than your phone, even though the LG G6 is already fairly rugged, according to LG. Since there is no camera bump here, there is a lip that covers the camera when it is place on a table, so you won't have to worry about damaging the glass there. The same goes with the display. There is a lip over the display to keep the display from being on a surface when its set down. This means, again, when it is dropped, the case will hit before the display.

The VRS Design High Pro Shield is available right now, for $29.99 and is available with the dark silver, satin silver, shine gold, rose gold and blue mist frames, all of which look really good on the LG G6, as you can see in the gallery below.
