Lenovo Has Reportedly Sold More Than 3 Million Moto M Phones

The Moto M has reportedly sold more than 3 million units since first becoming available in select regions during the closing months of 2016. The information comes from a new report out of The Jakarta Post which directly credits, Lenovo Mobile Business Group’s Adrie S. Suhadi, for the confirmation. Along with Suhadi further explaining that the number stated confirms the Moto M is fulfilling the “mid-range segment demand" within the industry.

The comments have come as part of the launch of the Moto M in Indonesia, where Lenovo presumably hopes to extend those sales figures even more when the device becomes readily available from March 27. Especially given the untapped potential that still remains available in Indonesia, compared to other markets which are now reaching various levels of saturation. The key with the Moto M in particular, and presumably why it is doing so well where it has already become available, is due to its nature of being a smartphone that is as affordable as it is functional. The Moto M after all, is a smartphone that comes loaded with a splash-resistant exterior and USB Type-C connectivity. As well as a 5.5-inch display with an FHD resolution, a 16-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel front-facing camera, and Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) pre-installed. With different price points accounting for different RAM and storage configurations.

Coming back to the sales figures though, and in line with the already-mentioned comments, Suhadi explains that sales of the Moto M were significant enough to account for 20-percent of the entirety of Lenovo’s global smartphone sales during the fourth quarter of last year. This is of specific importance as the figure is not just for Moto’s sales in general, but Moto’s parent company, Lenovo, who are already fairly prevalent in the region. An aspect which quite likely reaffirms Lenovo’s decision to purchase Moto in the first place. While Indonesia is now gaining its Moto M general availability, the Moto M has slowly been expanding its global footprint over the last couple of months to multiple new countries. Following its debut in China, then India, the Moto M can also now be found in Libya, Malaysia, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Thailand and the Ukraine.
