Fossil is already updating some watches to Android Wear 2.0 and it looks like they are now announcing updates for Fossil touchscreen display smartwatches – the Q Wander, Q Marshal, and Q Founder 2.0 today. This latest update, the biggest update since Android Wear was introduced in 2014 and will really be a noticeable change in the way your smartwatch runs. Like all updates, you may not receive it today, but rest assured that by the end of the week everybody should receive their Android Wear 2.0 update.
Google's Android Wear 2.0 made its appearance in February along with the announcement of the new LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style. The US company, Fossil, is one of the first smartwatch manufacturers to upgrade to the new operating system (OS). Google took their time in upgrading from Android Wear 1.0 to Android Wear 2.0, but the extra time appears to have paid off in a slew of new features that will really add some power to your smartwatch. One of the best features is the ability to download apps directly from the Google Play Store to your smartwatch – bypassing your smartphone altogether. If your smartwatch supports NFC, then you will be able to make Android Pay purchases via your smartwatch – there is no longer a need to drag your smartphone into the store to grab a pack of gum. Google Assistant is also available directly on your smartwatch allowing you to talk to your wrist instead of your phone. Go ahead and say, "Ok Google," and ask it a question or update a shopping list. Google Fit is also getting some updated information so you can keep track of various exercise activities such as sit-ups or push-ups.
Customization has always been Android's forte, and that does not stop with Android Wear 2.0. There will be more watch faces available, and you can save one face for a more formal setting, one for rugged looking activities, and one for when you workout. Notifications are significantly improved as is going to your favorite apps, all done through a swiping motion. You can now order an Uber pick up directly from your Fossil watch by adding that action to a watch face. Fossil users will now see the power of Android Wear 2.0 and the improvements it will add to their watch.
