Motorola DROID Turbo 2 Now Receiving Android 7.0 Nougat

The Motorola DROID Turbo 2 is officially making the jump the jump to Android 7.0 Nougat. Verizon Wireless made the announcement on the smartphone’s support page, and as expected, the update is distributed in phases OTA (over-the-air), and should continue to expand its reaches in the following days.

The latest OTA release pushes the smartphone’s software version up to 25.11.10 and brings numerous Android 7.0 Nougat features to the table, including better overall performance and improved battery life through an updated Doze mode. Following the update, the Motorola DROID Turbo 2 will also enjoy new additions including Multi Window mode allowing users to run two applications simultaneously on the same screen; faster switching between recent applications; additional notification settings as well as bundled notifications; and the ability to reorganize quick toggles in the quick settings panel. Lastly, Android 7.0 Nougat introduces an updated Data Saver mode for better data management and comes loaded with more than 1500 Unicode 9.0 emojis. Owners of the Motorola DROID Turbo 2 should receive the update notification at any moment assuming they haven’t already, but keep in mind that OTA releases expand gradually and it may take a few more days before every unit in the country will be able to enjoy the latest release. Alternatively, Motorola DROID Turbo 2 owners can attempt to trigger the process manually from the phone’s Settings menu, but either way, it’s recommended to have at least 50% battery life left before attempting to apply the new software version.

The Motorola DROID Turbo 2 was released in the United States through Verizon Wireless in October 2015, running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box. The smartphone was updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow a year later, and needless to say, it is now preparing for Google’s latest mobile OS version. At the time of writing, Verizon Wireless offers the Motorola DROID Turbo 2 for $0 down along with a 2-year agreement worth $22 a month, and alternatively, the smartphone can also be acquired off-contract for the price of $528. The Motorola DROID Turbo 2 carries a 5.2-inch shatterproof AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 System-on-Chip,  GB of RAM, a 21-megapixel main camera coupled with a 5-megapixel front-facing unit, and a generous 3,760mAh battery to keep everything up and running for up to 48 hours of mixed usage.
