Logitech's ZeroTouch car mounts were already pretty smart, but now they just got a bit smarter with the latest update bringing in Amazon Alexa support. If you own an Amazon Echo, Echo Dot or Amazon Tap, then you're going to love this update to the ZeroTouch Car Mount. So now when you're driving down the street, you can ask Alexa to turn off the lights in your home, or ask Alexa questions like who is the President. Or, and this is perhaps everyone's favorite, Alexa can read the latest news headlines to you while you're driving. So you can stay up-to-date with everything that's happening in the world, without taking your focus off of the road.
The ZeroTouch Car Mount from Logitech isn't your typical car mount either, it's a smart mount of sorts. When you get into the car and place your smartphone in the mount, it'll launch the Logitech ZeroTouch app. From there you'll be able to do just about everything that you can do with Android Auto, but it's not as seamless. Although, Logitech did release a new car mount, called the SmartCar that uses the new Android Auto app to do the same thing. ZeroTouch works with Google Maps, Google Now and your favorite music services like Google Play Music, Pandora, Spotify and more. And now, it works with Alexa, which makes these other integrations almost obsolete.
When the ZeroTouch Car Mounts launched last year, many people were thinking that they were overpriced, and there is some truth to that. The Air Vent model is priced at $59.99, with the standard mount costing $79.99. That's pretty pricey for car mounts, especially since many of them are well under $10 over at Amazon. But Logitech has put together some great hardware here with the ZeroTouch lineup, and some great software as well. And now with the addition of Alexa, the ZeroTouch Car Mounts are closer to being worth the price. Of course, if you aren't an Alexa user, this may not tempt you to buy one, but it's still worth checking out. The update for the ZeroTouch app is available now in the US and the UK. Alexa is only coming to ZeroTouch mounts in those two countries, since those are the two countries that have Alexa support.
