The Huawei Mate 9 is the latest smartphone to be put though a durability test, or as some might call it, a torture test. JerryRigEverything has been putting the top smartphones through durability tests for quite a while now. Showing us how these smartphones perform when put in hash conditions. Whether that is scratching the back of the device or the camera, or even setting a lighter to the display, and of course the important bend test. Huawei hasn't actually performed well in his tests, holding a third of the phones that haven't survived his durability tests. But the Huawei Mate 9 hangs on and passes the test, and even gets a thumbs up from JerryRigEverything.
JerryRigEverything scratched the back of the Huawei Mate 9 with a razor blade and found that it is truly metal back there, and not painted metal like what LG did with the LG G5. He also scratched the camera with the blade, and well it didn't actually scratch it. Which means that the camera is nicely protected from being scratched. That's definitely a good thing, especially on a smartphone with a camera as good as the Huawei Mate 9. The screen did scratch at a level 6 pick, which is higher than the Honor 6X which scratched at a level 4. That's good for anyone worried about having their screen scratched by having their phone in the same pocket as their keys or some coins.
It's great news for owners and potential owners of the Huawei Mate 9, that the phone did survive this durability test. Although a bit of this test might be on the extreme. The Huawei Mate 9 sports a 5.9-inch 1920×1080 resolution display, powered by the Kirin 960 processor and 4GB of RAM. Huawei also threw in 64GB of storage for good measure, and if that wasn't enough there is also a micro SD card slot available for even more storage. The Huawei Mate 9 is actually available for purchase in the US, which is a good thing, especially for those looking for a big smartphone, since the Galaxy Note 7 was discontinued.
