Android Nougat is out for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge on AT&T as it appears that most owners of either device on the network have received the update software. According to an AT&T employee in the carrier's forums, the update to Android 7.0 Nougat started rolling out to users of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge as of February 17th which was last Friday. Although because the update started on that day it doesn't mean that all users would receive it before the day was over.
The good news though is that the update shouldn't take too long to reach all users of either of Samsung's flagships from last year to get the new software and it's quite likely that many of AT&T's subscribers with either phone received the update to Nougat over the weekend. There are also multiple users noting that they received the update last week with the download file being about 1.6GB in size which sounds about right considering both phones are making the jump from Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and the update was close to this size for most other phones as well.
With the update now underway users of both the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will have a decent amount of stuff to look forward to in regards to the new features and changes. When it comes to new features, improved Doze Mode will help users with battery life, while things like App Shortcuts make it easier for users to access certain tasks for their most used apps, as they can simply long press on an app that's been placed on the home screen and bring up the list of shortcuts that are possible. Users can also expect Nougat's native multi-window support, and the updated TouchWiz UI where Samsung makes a few tweaks to the overall design and generally just makes things smoother. If you haven't received the update on your Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge yet it is possible to see if the update is available manually, and to do this you need to navigate to the settings menu, then to about phone, and finally tap on software updates to see if it's ready for download. AT&T wasn't the only carrier to send out the updates for Nougat to the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge recently, as it appears that T-Mobile began sending out the update earlier today.
