Your phone case could be a drone to help you take selfies thanks to a new drone and case combination called AirSelfie, enabling you to take some aerial selfie shots, which, may or may not be just the thing you've been looking for. If you're either into selfies or drones or both, and are tired of looking at other possible methods to achieve selfies from the skies or just from a position further out to capture more of the subject, say with multiple people that you want to fit into the frame, then AirSelfie might be a decent solution if you have one of the supported devices.
According to the product page for AirSelfie, the case is only compatible with two different Android devices which includes the Google Pixel and the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, both of which are arguably two of last year's best devices. That being said, there is unfortunately no mention of whether the case will be produced for other Android devices in the future, but this would likely depend on the success of the case for the already available smartphones.
If you already have one of the supported devices, the AirSelfie case won't come cheap and will set you back just over $260 for the available base package, which includes the AirSelfie drone itself and the cover, which is the case that fits over your phone and can house the drone at the same time. There is also a package for the AirSelfie drone plus a power bank, which is about $272, or you can do the AirSelfie plus the cover and add the power bank to the mix which ends up at a total of about $345. All told this isn't a cheap phone case, but you have to remember that you're paying mostly for the drone. To use the AirSelfie to take pictures, you simply remove the drone from the case and you can control it with a companion app, and the integrated 5-megapixel camera on the drone will actually take picture. Once the picture is taken the AirSelfie drone sends the picture to your phone by generating its own Wi-Fi network and allowing your smartphone to connect to it. The drone is built with anodized aluminum so it looks and feels premium, and it comes powered by a 260mAh battery. It also has 4GB of built-in storage via microSD card so you can keep your pictures stored on the drone if you care to do so. Right now the AirSelfie is available for pre-order only, but those that do decide to purchase can expect it to ship in May according to the website.
