Qualcomm's CES 2017 keynote is only a couple of days away, and some new info regarding the company's Snapdragon 835 SoC just leaked. This SoC was already announced by Qualcomm last year, but the company did not introduce that many details thus far, well, @evelaks has decided to set the record straight and spill the beans on the Snapdragon 835, following a set of presentation screens that leaked a couple of days ago. The tipster shared what seems to be an official press release for Qualcomm's high-end chip, even though we cannot be sure, in any case, let's see what it says.
If the info is to be believed, Qualcomm says that this SoC is 'smaller, faster, and more energy-efficient than any chipset in history', which is probably true as it uses a 10nm design, and has over 3 billion transistors. Now, according to the information provided by @evleaks, the Snapdragon 835 is 40% more power-efficient than the Snapdragon 820, while it is also 27% faster and 30% smaller than the company's 2015 flagship. The shared press release actually talks about various improvements that Qualcomm aims to bring with this chip and their technology, as they tout improvements to charging, camera capability, battery life, security, etc. Quick Charge 4.0 will be faster than Quick Charge 3.0, of course, and if the leaked info is to be believed, five minutes of charging will provide five hours of battery life. These numbers will, of course, vary from smartphone to smartphone as there are a number of factors included here.
In addition to all this, the info source shared says that the Snapdragon 835 will offer 25% faster 3D graphics rendering and 60 times more display colors compared to its predecessor, while motion tracking has been improved as well. Photography will benefit from this chip as well, thanks to a next-gen 4K video stabilization, also known as EIS 3.0. Dual Photodiode support is coming, and the company is also enhancing the hybrid auto-focus framework in order to bring intelligent phase and lighting detection. The Snapdragon 835 will be ready to operate dual camera setups, in case you were wondering. X16 LTE modem will ship along with this SoC, and you'll also get a custom support for 802.11ad Wi-Fi networks. 256-QAM digital signal processing, 4×4 MIMO and up to 4X carrier aggregation are all included in the package, and the modem is 45% smaller and 60% more power efficient than the one included with the Snapdragon 820. Haven platform guarantees extra security, and the Snapdragon 835 also comes with object recognition, real-time hand-tracking, voice recognition and biometric authentication, as it's able to handle all that out of the box, at least based on the leaked info.
