LG Music Flow Speakers To Get Multi-Room & Google Home Support

LG's Music Flow speakers are set to gain multi-room support and Google Home support in a future update. The confirmation comes from a post on LG's Music Flow support forum and seems to be in direct response to multiple requests from users for these specific features. While LG has confirmed that the supports are coming, there is no firm confirmation on when exactly the features will be available to Music Flow speaker owners. While LG does suggest an 'end of Feb' time for the release of the new software, there is a chance that this time-frame might be extended as LG notes in the current announcement that they are still testing the implementation of the two new features with the latest version of the software.

In terms of the features, multi-room is largely what a user might expect it to be. This feature allows the user to play the same song across different speakers – essentially, in different rooms. Which of course, will likely only be of benefit to those who have more than one speaker. While Google Home support will allow the Music Flow speaker owner to control their speaker via a Google Home-enabled device. Not too dissimilar to what Sony announced back in December for their Chromecast built-in speakers, or even more recently, VIZIO with their SmartCast devices.

Both features will likely be welcomed by Music Flow speaker owners, as in spite of these being newer features, the LG Music Flow line is one which is starting to become an older line. LG's Music Flow speakers first launched in the US back in April of 2015, following a CES-timed introduction to Google Cast for Audio by Google earlier in 2015. Making LG's Music Flow line one of the first lines to take advantage of Google Cast for Audio functionality. So to see these speakers now two years later being upgraded to support newer advancements like multi-room and Google Home command integration bodes well for the support on offer by LG towards this line of speakers. Not to mention, they now add another reason as to why you might want to consider picking up one of LG's Music Flow speakers, if you have not already.
