The Huawei Mate 9 was originally launched in November last year in Berlin, and the device has been available for a while in some markets. Huawei’s all-new flagship phablet was not available in the US, though, well, at least until now. The company has launched this smartphone in the US, and has also announced its pricing, you can find more info here if you’re interested. That being said, we’re here to take a closer look at the Huawei Mate 9’s specifications for those of you who live in the US and are interested in getting your hands on Huawei’s most powerful handset.
The Huawei Mate 9 is made out of metal, and it sports a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. The first thing you’ll notice once you unpack the phone is its 5.9-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display which comes with a 2.5D curved glass on top of it. The device is fueled by Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 960 64-bit octa-core processor, along with the Mali-G71 MP8 GPU for graphics. The device packs in 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage (expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card slot). This smartphone comes with a 4,000 mAh battery on the inside, a non-removable battery pack which offers fast charging, for those of you who were wondering. Now, as far as optics go, the Huawei Mate 9 features a dual camera setup on the back, you’re getting a 20-megapixel Monochrome lens and a 12-megapixel RGB OIS shooter (f/2.2 aperture), and these two sensors come with Leica’s lenses. Those of you who are into selfies will be glad to hear that an 8-megapixel camera (f/1.9 aperture) is included on the front-side of this smartphone.
The Huawei Mate 9 offers NFC support, while it comes with Bluetooth 4.2, and a USB Type-C port is placed on its bottom, while it is flanked by a set of speakers. On top of Google’s operating system, you’re getting Huawei’s Emotion UI (EMUI) 5.0 skin, which brings a significantly different experience compared to stock Android Nougat. The Huawei Mate 9 measures 156.9 x 78.9 x 7.9 mm, weighs 190 grams and comes in a number of colors, including Space Gray and Moonlight Silver.
