The Google Pixel and Pixel XL just gained some pretty impressive waterproof cases from LifeProof. The Google Store has added the LifeProof FRE Series of cases for both variants of the Pixel, and they start at $89.95 a piece. Which is pretty expensive for a smartphone case these days, but do remember that these are waterproof cases, so they have a whole lot more protection than most cases do. These LifeProof FRE cases do bring up the rating on the Pixels from IP53 to IP68, which effectively means that they can be submerged in water up to 2 meters for up to 30 minutes without being damaged.
Since these cases are indeed waterproof, that means that there is a built in screen protector, and there is also a flap for the USB-C port and the 3.5mm headphone jack to keep water out of those areas – since those aren't naturally waterproof on either the Pixel or Pixel XL. It's worth mentioning that due to these flaps, some charging cables and some headphones may not work with this case on the Pixel or Pixel XL, due to the size of the area around the port. So if you are in need of a waterproof case for your Pixel or Pixel XL, the LifeProof FRE is definitely a great choice, albeit expensive.
The LifeProof FRE series is available on the Google Play Store now. Of course, if you don't need something that is waterproof, or are looking for something a bit cheaper case for your Pixel or Pixel XL, feel free to check out our latest Top 10 Best Cases for the Pixel. There is also the Otterbox Defender that is available on the Google Store for about half the price, coming in at $49.95 for the Pixel and $59.95 for the Pixel XL. Which is definitely worth taking a look at, it's not waterproof, but it is rugged and can take a beating. A bit more of a beating than most other cases on the market right now.
