Dish Launches AirTV Android TV Box, Now Available For $99.99

Dish has now announced the launch and availability of AirTV at CES 2017. This is a device which is powered and based on Android TV and looks to add to the growing number of options available for those who are looking to cut the cord. One of the benefits of AirTV is that it combines access to the now-typical app-interface and the ever-growing number of TV apps that are available through the Google Play Store, with more traditional forms of TV consumption - like over-the-air (OTA) signals. Although, an additional (sold separately) adapter is required to make use of the OTA functionality.

Speaking of the apps, as well as coming loaded with all the apps you would expect, like Netflix and YouTube, one of the other big selling points is that this box comes pre-loaded with Sling TV (and includes a direct Sling TV button). Adding to the ways in which you can access live TV content without the need for a cable contract. In addition, this is also a box which comes with 4K playback support, as well as a Bluetooth remote control. So all in all, you are looking at what is a very capable and functional set-top box for cord-cutters.

The other big selling point with AirTV is that this is a unit which is priced at only $99.99 and those signing up for the service will also be able to offset that cost a little more as AirTV comes with a free $50 Sling TV credit. Which means if you are planning on using Sling TV with this box, then the cost of the box is technically only $50. For those looking to take advantage of the OTA TV option, then the AirTV adapter is currently priced at $39.99. Although, interested parties can pick up a full bundle kit which includes the AirTV set-top box, the AirTV OTA adapter and the Sling $50 credit for only $129.99 - an additional saving of $10 compared to when bought separately. For those looking to get their hands on AirTV as soon as possible, it is now available to buy from the newly-launched AirTV website, through the link below.
