Xiaomi Seeking Mi Max & Prime Testers For Nougat MIUI 8

Xiaomi recently announced that it's looking for owners of the Mi Max and Mi Max Prime interested in testing the Android 7.0 Nougat build of the MIUI 8 user interface. People interested in participating in this restricted test can apply in the MIUI 8 Global Beta ROM thread linked below. The Chinese phone maker is accepting applications until Friday, December 30th, after which it will notify people selected for the test with a private message sent via the MIUI boards. Users who apply should make sure to check their PMs on Saturday, December 31st, seeing how that's the date when Xiaomi will be sending out invitations and the company will likely pick someone else over people who don't respond to their message as quickly as possible. Other requirements for testers include some degree of knowledge about ROMs and an active presence on the MIUI boards. Finally, Xiaomi explicitly stated it's looking for people willing to discuss the new ROM in both the QQ Beta group and forum, adding how no alternative means of communication are an option.

To apply, users must download and install the MIUI Global Forum app on their Mi Max or Mi Max Prime, open the app's homepage, select the Recruitment option, and submit a short form to Xiaomi. The form requires them to disclose the model of their device, how long they've been using smartphones in general, and a particular reason for wanting to participate in the closed beta for the MIUI 8 build based on Android 7.0 Nougat. The gallery below depicts this entire process. The Chinese phone maker revealed that it's planning to provide approved testers with a beta ROM by the end of this week.

Finally, all interested testers should make sure they're familiar with the official flashing guide for the Mi Max and Mi Max Prime, backup their files before starting the flashing process and provide Xiaomi with timely bug reports. Those who get approved by Xiaomi and download the MIUI 8 Nougat beta ROM will also get access to a special read permission on the MIUI boards and access to daily development updates. Other bonuses include the ability to attach files of larger sizes while posting on the MIUI boards and a priority when applying for any official MIUI-related activities and events.
