Gionee is one of many Chinese smartphone manufacturing companies, and even though it might not be as popular as Huawei, ASUS or Xiaomi, this company had released some interesting phones in the last couple of years, and they're doing rather well in both China and India. Having that in mind, one of the company's upcoming smartphones got certified at the end of last month, the Gionee M2017. This odd-looking handset packs really interesting specifications, and the company just confirmed that the phone is launching soon, read on.
The company's VP has published a new image on his official Weibo (Chinese social network) page, and by doing so he definitely confirmed that the Gionee M2017 is going to be announced on December 26th. If you take a closer look at the image, you'll notice the 'M2017' caption, the device itself in the hand of the gentleman in the image, and also the release date on the very bottom of this image. Judging by this image, Gionee sees their upcoming phone as an elegant device or something of the sort. Now, as far as the design is concerned, this phone seems to be made out of metal, glass and a leather-like material, it is possible this is real leather on the back of the phone, actually. As you can see, the phone's display is curved, and the power / lock and volume rocker keys are placed on the right-hand side of the phone's body. The home button is located below the display, though we still don't know if this is a capacitive key or a physical button, no matter what the case may be, this button will double as a fingerprint scanner.
The Gionee M2017 sure is an interesting device, next to its build and a curved display, the phone will sport a 7,000mAh battery on the inside (fast charging included), and will also ship with 6GB of RAM. Despite the fact some of you might think this is a top of the line device, it is not, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 653 64-bit octa-core SoC is a compelling processor, but it is a mid-range chip. The device will also come with a 5.7-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) AMOLED display, and 128GB of internal storage. Two SIM card slots will be available inside of this phone, and a 3.5mm headphone jack will be a part of the package. The phone will sport 13-megapixel and 12-megapixel cameras on the back, and the LED flash will be located there as well, while an 8-megapixel snapper will be available on the phone's front side. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on the Gionee M2017 with the company's Amigo OS 3.2, while you can expect this phone to weigh 230 grams. The Gionee M2017 measures 155.2 x 77.6 x 10.65mm, in case you were wondering, and 4G LTE will be included, of course. The device will ship in Black color only, at least according to TENAA's info.
