The Gionee M2017 is finally official. This is a rather odd-looking smartphone which had been certified by TENAA (China's equivalent to the FCC) a while back, and we were expecting GIonee to introduce it one of these days. Well, the day has finally come, and the device is now official, and it's exactly what we expected. The Gionee M2017 is a rather powerful smartphone which sports an interesting design, huge battery and a mid-range processor, read on.

The Gionee M2017 is made out of metal, while it has a leather-like material on the back. In any case, the phone's display is curved, and it is protected by sapphire glass. This is a 5.7-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) AMOLED display, just in case you were wondering. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 653 64-bit octa-core processor, along with the Adreno 510 GPU for graphics. The Gionee M2017 packs in 6GB of RAM and 128GB / 256GB of internal storage, while it ships with two SIM card slots. There are two camera sensors placed on the back of this smartphone, 12-megapixel and 13-megapixel cameras, and the LED flash is also located on the back of this phone. An 8-megapixel shooter can be found on the front side of this device, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the device with Gionee's Amigo OS 3.5 on top of it.

The 7,000mAh battery is included on the inside of this smartphone, and is one of the Gionee M2017's strong suits. Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging is also a part of this package, and the battery comes with its own intelligent power management system, Gionee says you can get 25 hours of continuous video playback and 915.42 hours of standby while using this device. The fingerprint scanner is placed below the display, and the device offers 4G LTE connectivity, of course. The Gionee M2017 measures 155.2 x 77.6 x 10.78mm, while it weighs 238 grams. The device comes in Gold and Black color variants, and there are two editions of this device available, the standard edition, and the exclusive version with Italian custom alligator leather back. The first variant is priced at 6,999 Yuan ($1,007), while the exclusive version costs 16,999 Yuan ($2,446). The 256GB models are somewhat more expensive, we still don't know how much they cost exactly, though. The Gionee M2017 is already available for pre-order in China, and as you can see, this is not exactly the most affordable phone around, it is a luxury device, sort of.
