Download: Google Play Books With Bottom Menu & Better Listings

Like any other Google app, Google Play Books is one which receives routine updating and new features being added. One of the most recent of which was the ability for users to gift a book to someone else. So while not necessarily something that benefits the actual user, that particular feature was one which was in line with the recent Google trend of being able to gift something to someone else. Now, a new update is on its way to the Google Play Books app and this one also includes a change which can be found in many of the other Google apps recently, as the update includes the introduction of a bottom navigation bar. This essentially means that most of the main tab features that were previously accessible in the slide-out side menu have now been moved to the bottom bar. Namely, Discover and My Library. Although in the refreshed look, the My Library has simply become ‘Library’ while a ‘Home’ button is now included as well. The obvious benefit of this change is that the bottom positioned navigational bar will make it much quicker to revert back to home, discover new content or head straight to your library.

It seems that is not the only new feature though as there are also changes to the Night Light mode and the way listings are displayed. In terms of the Night Light, there's not much change to the actual feature, but now the Night Light tab within the settings has now seen the Night Light on/off toggle switch being replaced by a link which takes you through to the dedicated settings page for the feature. While in terms of the listings, it seems series listings are now broken down into easier-to-navigate sections. So for instance, instead of one continuous list of titles or chapters, series listings are now broken down to include Latest Releases, Volumes, and so on.

This latest version of Google Play Books is version 3.11.15 and it is already showing up on the Google Play Store listing as a December 12 update. So devices are likely to be updated anytime now with this latest version. However, if you would like to see the latest changes take effect as quickly as possible, then you can download an APK of the latest version of the app by heading through the link below and sideloading the APK in the usual manner.
