Xiaomi had introduced two high-end devices quite recently, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 and Xiaomi Mi MIX. The Mi Note 2 was expected to land, and is the company’s new flagship phablet, while the Xiaomi Mi MIX was more or less a total surprise by the company, this is a 6.4-inch bezel-less phablet which comes with a 91.3% screen-to-body ratio. The Xiaomi Mi MIX is a really sleek-looking smartphone, and if you’re interested in purchasing it, you’re probably wondering how durable it is, especially considering it has only some bezel below its display. Well, luckily for you, JerryRigEverything just released the Xiaomi Mi MIX durability test on his YouTube channel, read on.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX’s body is made out of ceramic, we knew that, but if you take a look at the video down below, you’ll be able to find out that pretty much every other part of this smartphone is made out either out of ceramic or glass, even the back cover is made out of ceramic. The rear-facing fingerprint scanner and physical keys are made out of ceramic, the only plastic part on the Xiaomi Mi MIX is the plastic that covers the dual-LED flash on the back. That being said, the Xiaomi Mi MIX did really great in JerryRigEverything’s durability test, most of its body did not scratch until he used the level 8 pick, mainly because this is ceramic we’re talking about. The screen did scratch after the level 6 pick (same goes for the glass that covers the rear-facing camera), but that’s perfectly normal for today’s flagships. The phone’s display was able to function normally after the lighter test, it returned to its normal state after going black for a couple of seconds due to the fact i was exposed to fire from the lighter.
Now, considering this smartphone doesn’t exactly have much bezel, one would think it would snap in half without a problem, right? Well, not really, after the bend test the phone did not snap, part of its back cover did pop out a bit, but after pushing it back in the phone was like brand new, it worked without a problem. This is a real testament to Xiaomi, and the build quality of this smartphone, that’s for sure.
