Customization is one of the main characteristics of Android. Google’s Android OS is an open source platform, and it allows developers to develop all sorts of third-party ROMs for various Android devices, but Android, in its pure form, is quite customizable as it is. No matter what Android-powered device you purchase, you’ll be able to customize various aspects of it, from installing third-party launchers, to using third-party keyboards, icons, etc. That being said, we’ve recently stumbled upon a rather interesting app which will help you customize your status bar, just in case you don’t like the way it looks, read on.
The app in question is called ‘Status’, and it’s actually quite interesting, especially considering you don’t need root to use it. Different Android devices ship with different status bars, and some of them either look bad because of the icons, or simply don’t give out enough info. Well, you can change that by using this application, as it overlays your current status bar with a new one that you can set up the way you want. Status is an app which has been designed using Google’s Material Design guidelines, and that’s great to hear, as every single option inside of this app is based on such design. You can set Status to be blue when you’re surfing the Facebook app, green when you’re on Hangouts etc., the app gives you tons of customization in every way. That’s not nearly it, though, you can set custom icons for the battery, data connection, clock… and you can even change the position of such icons in the status bar. For example, you can set your clock to be positioned at the very middle of the status bar, and move the Wi-Fi connection icon to the left.
As already mentioned, there are tons of options to choose from here, Status is all about customization, and if you don’t like the way your status bar looks, or would like to see more info in there, Status is definitely an app for you. This application is completely free to use, and has been downloaded somewhere between 100,000 and 500,000 times thus far, while it holds a 4.1-star rating in the Google Play Store. In case you need more info before you check out this app, we’ve included a number of official images in the gallery down below.
