Lenovo's ZUK Edge Flagship Teased By CEO, Coming Soon

We’ve seen a ton of great devices released in 2016, and a number of smartphone manufacturing companies released smartphones with curved displays. The first company that comes to mind is, of course, Samsung, as that was the first company to release a smartphone with a curved display (curved display sides) in general. Samsung had introduced the Galaxy S7 Edge earlier this year, and Vivo followed with their Xplay 5 flagship. The Elephone S7 had been introduced as well, and it resembles the Galaxy S7 Edge quite a bit, while Xiaomi and Huawei also introduced their smartphones with curved displays, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2, Huawei Mate 9 Pro and Porsche Design Mate 9.

Having that in mind, yet another smartphone with a curved display surfaced on TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) quite recently, the ZUK Edge. ZUK is a Lenovo-backed company which had introduced three smartphones thus far, the ZUK Z1, ZUK Z2 and ZUK Z2 Pro. The latter two devices are still high-end offerings, as they’re both fueled by the Snapdragon 820 and pack in really nice specs, but it seems like the ZUK Edge will overshadow both of those offerings soon. Following TENAA’s listing, the company’s CEO decided to tease the arrival of the ZUK Edge, and by doing that he more or less confirmed that the two devices will land soon. Chang Cheng, ZUK’s CEO, shared retail packaging of the ZUK Edge, both the Black and White variants, as you can see in the provided image. Mr. Cheng did not share any additional info regarding the ZUK Edge, but this definitely suggests that the phone could launch soon.

According to TENAA, the ZUK Edge will sport a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, along with 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of native storage. The phone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core SoC, along with the Adreno 530 GPU. On the back of this phone, you’ll be able to find a 13-megapixel snapper, while an 8-megapixel shooter will be available on the phone’s front side. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on the ZUK Edge, and a 3,000mAh battery will also be a part of this package.
