Leak: Huawei's Kirin 960 SoC To Fuel Meizu's PRO 7 Flagship

The Meizu PRO 5 is one of the best smartphones Meizu had introduced to date. This Exynos-powered phablet was introduced back in September last year, and its successor, the PRO 6, is not a phablet device, and is fueled by a MediaTek SoC. Consumers were expecting the Meizu PRO 7 to land before the end of this year, as a true successor to the Meizu PRO 5. That smartphone has been leaking for months, we've seen various leaks showing off the alleged Meizu PRO 7 with a curved display, and rumors were saying it will arrive with the Exynos 8890 SoC. That still did not happen, and the company's VP said a while back that the phone will not launch this year, the company had introduced the Meizu PRO 6s instead.

Well, if the recent rumors and leaks are accurate, the Meizu PRO 7 could be closer to release than we think, and it could be a truly gorgeous device. The Meizu PRO 7 leaked yesterday, well, its promo materials leaked, and it seems like we're looking at a bezel-less device here, a competitor to the Xiaomi Mi MIX. Yesterday's leak suggested that the phone will launch next month, and ship with a 5.62-inch Super AMOLED display, 6GB of RAM and mCharge 4.0 fast charging technology. The leak also said that the device will be only 6.4 millimeters thin, and that a 12-megapixel shooter will be placed on its back. Well, a new leak has just surfaced, and it seems like it's a sequel to yesterday's leak, as these presentation materials seem to come from the same source.

According to the newly-leaked information, the Meizu PRO 7 could be fueled by Huawei's HiSilicon Kirin 960 64-bit octa-core processor, which is certainly a surprise. The HiSilicon Kirin 960 SoC is actually Huawei's flagship processor, and it is fueling the Huawei Mate 9, Mate 9 Pro and Porsche Design Mate 9 which were introduced quite recently. Pretty much everyone was expecting the Meizu PRO 7 to ship with either MediaTek's or Samsung's SoC, as Meizu is in the middle of a lawsuit with Qualcomm, but very few people expected to see Huawei's Kirin chip here. In addition to that, the leak also reveals that the PRO 7 will ship with a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera (Sony's IMX386 sensor, 1.25um pixel size), and that we're looking at 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM here. In addition to all this, the device will sport the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, if this leak is to be believed. Take this info with a grain of salt, of course, we'll see what happens in the coming weeks.
