Holiday Gift Guide 2016 – 2017: Top 10 Smartphones Under $300

Huawei Honor 5X

When it comes to smartphones that are under $300, the Honor 5X is well under that price point. And it's a pretty amazing smartphone, given its price. We're looking at a smartphone with a 5.5-inch 1080p display along with a Snapdragon 616 processor and 3GB of RAM powering the show here. Speaking of power, there is a 3000mAh battery inside which does well at keeping the Honor 5X going all day long. If that's not enough, the Honor 5X does also sport a fingerprint sensor on the back.

OnePlus 2

Now that the OnePlus 3 is out and available, the OnePlus 2 has dropped in price, bringing it in under the $300 line here. It's a pretty impressive device for being under $300. It's powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor, 4GB of RAM and a 3300mAh battery. It does feature a rather impressive 13-megapixel camera around back, and has a 5.5-inch 1080p display on the front. This does also include a fingerprint sensor, much like the Honor 5X.

BLU LIFE ONE X2

This is the latest smartphone out of BLU, and it doesn't disappoint either. It has a 5.2-inch full HD curved display, along with a Snapdragon 430 processor powering the show. Now it is offered in two models, there's one with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, and the other comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. This is also the first smartphone on our list to come with Quick Charge 3.0 support, allowing you to charge your smartphone faster than ever.

BLU PURE XR

Here's another entry from BLU, and it's a beaut. It's the PURE XR which sports mostly the same specs, but it has a Helio P10 processor out of MediaTek. That is still a 64-bit processor, and does support 4G LTE. Additionally, it sports 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Best of all there is a fingerprint sensor located on the front to keep your smartphone nice and secure, as it should be.

Lenovo Moto G4 Plus

Lenovo introduced the Moto G4 Plus earlier this year, and it's arguably one of the best smartphones on this list. Spec-wise, the Moto G4 Plus has a full HD 5.5-inch display, with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor powering the show. There is also 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage here (as well as a cheaper 2GB/16GB model) and there's a fingerprint sensor on the front of the device. Pretty impressive for its price point. Not to mention there is a micro SD card slot included.

Sony Xperia XA

Sony has always built premium smartphones, and the Xperia XA is no different. Here we have a smartphone with a 5-inch 720p display, powered by MediaTek's Helio P10 processor and 2GB of RAM. Sony has put a 13 -megapixel camera on the back of this device, along with a 2300mAh battery inside. Paired with Sony's STAMINA features, this battery should definitely last you all day long and then some.

ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser

If you were a fan of the ZenFone 2 that was released last year, then you'll love the ZenFone 2 Laser. It's essentially the same device, but it features laser auto-focus. What this means is that you'll be able to focus quicker and take pictures even quicker than normal. Spec-wise, we have a 5.5-inch 720p display, Snapdragon 410 and 3GB of RAM. Not to mention the pretty stellar 13-megapixel camera that's on the back.

Lenovo Moto G4 Play

This is another member of this year's Moto G lineup from Lenovo. It's the cheapest, and thus the lowest-end of the three. The Moto G4 Play sports a smaller 5-inch 720p display, along with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 410 processor paired with 2GB of RAM for running the show. There is 16GB of storage on board along with a micro SD card slot, that does support adoptable storage. Allowing you to add a whole lot more storage.

ZTE AXON

The ZTE AXON is last year's smartphone from the Chinese company, but it's still pretty impressive, for being under $300. It's sporting a Snapdragon 801 processor along with 3GB of RAM. There's also a 5.5-inch 1080p display on the front, with dual 13-megapixel cameras around back and a 3000mAh battery powering the device. There's no fingerprint sensor on this model though (the AXON Pro has that).

BLU R1 HD

Rounding out our list is the cheapest smartphone. That's the BLU R1 HD, which is actually a pretty incredible smartphone, given its price point. It's available in both 8GB and 16GB of storage capacities. It does also have a 5-inch HD display along with an octa-core MediaTek processor running the show. There's 2GB of RAM to boot.
