Holiday Gift Guide 2016 - 2017: Top 10 Best Smart Home Security Gadgets

Nest Cam

Protecting your home is a top priority, as it should be. And the Nest Cam has your back. The Nest Cam will monitor your home 24/7 and allow you to backup the video to the cloud or even another hard drive. This can be especially useful if you are robbed, as you'll have hard evidence for the cops to use. Additionally, you can see what's going on at home from your smartphone, anywhere in the world. Giving you peace of mind.

Canary All-in-One Home Security Device

Canary does more than just protect your home with a video camera. There is actually a built-in siren. So that if you get an alert that someone is outside your home, you can sound that siren and scare them off, hopefully. It also has some pretty simple installation. There's no need to mount anything outside, or even run wires around your house for Canary.

Ring WiFi Enabled Video Doorbell

Ring is a bit different from Canary and Nest Cam, but still pretty similar. It's a doorbell, with a built-in video camera. This allows you to see who is at the door, before they even ring the doorbell. You can communicate with them through the app on your smartphone (iOS or Android), even when you aren't home. Now you'll be able to catch FedEx or UPS throwing your packages onto your doorstep.

August Smart Lock

The August Smart Lock is a great lock that you can use to keep your home secure. No more forgetting your keys, or locking yourself out. As long as you have your smartphone, you can use it to unlock the door. August communicates with your phone via Bluetooth to authenticate you. Additionally, you can grant limited time access to other users, great for a baby sitter, or perhaps your mother-in-law.

Kwikset Kevo (2nd Gen)

Kwikset Kevo is another lock that you can use, and not worry about your keys. Of course, you can always result to using your key to open the door. But you can also use your smartphone's Bluetooth connection to unlock the door. This is great because this lock doesn't look any different from the many other Kwikset locks out there. So, many won't know it's a smart lock.

Logitech Circle

One of the best looking WiFi cameras around. The Logitech Circle is a competitor to the Nest Cam, and allows you to keep an eye on everything going on throughout your home. Inside and out. Like the Nest Cam, you can also view what's going on at home through the app on your phone. It also presents a short video showing you everything that happened in the last 24 hours. So you can be caught up to speed in no time.

Arlo Security System

Netgear has also gotten into the security game, and has their Arlo security cameras. These are similar to the Nest Cam and Logitech Circle, and allow you to keep an eye on everything that's going on. Like Logitech, Netgear does also sell their security camera in bundles, up to 5 cameras in a kit. Which is enough to put cameras up all around your office. Especially useful if you own a small business.

Nest Cam Outdoor Security Camera

The Nest Cam isn't waterproof or more importantly, weatherproof, which means it's not a great camera to put outside. But the Nest Cam Outdoor Security Camera is made for this. Not only is it weatherproof, but it also has night vision. So even at night, you'll be able to keep an eye on your home and make sure that no unwanted people are coming by.

Arlo Pro Security System with Siren

Now this is a new camera that Netgear just recently announced, and it's sure to be a hot product this holiday season. But the Arlo Pro, like the Nest Cam Outdoor Security Camera, is now weatherproof and has night vision. But to top it all off, the Arlo Pro also has a built in siren. This is to ward off any unwanted guests from coming by, but it could also be a fun prank to pull on someone.

Ring Stick Up Cam

If you liked the Ring Video Doorbell, that is already on this list, then you'll like the Ring Stick Up Cam as well. This you can put some place else around your home and keep an eye out for what's going on, and control it and the doorbell from Ring's app. Making everything a bit more seamless and integrated.
