Google Prepares Santa Tracker For 2016 Christmas Season

The Google Santa Tracker app is one filled with merriment and joy. One which people of all ages, not just kids, can interact with to revel in the excitement that the Christmas season and holiday bring forth. As December 1st is tomorrow, that means Christmas is more or less just around the corner and Google has prepared their Santa Tracker app by putting out the annual update that they typically send out around this time every year. While the update is not massive, there are some new additions to the tracker app that people can enjoy and this includes a redesigned village as well as a new game.

The new game is called Present Quest, and it utilizes Google Maps to make the game more interactive and a little bit physical. The goal of Present Quest, or at least one of the things you can do in this mini game is obtain presents, but to do so you'll need to travel to the locations that are shown on the map. When your little elf on screen appears in the location of the gifts, which are marked by the pins in the map, then you can tap on the pin and collect the gift from that location before heading to Santa's Workshop on the map to drop off the gift.

In addition to the new game, which Google has made front and center on the home screen of the app once you open it, this year's Santa Tracker also includes a new design for the village. There's also videos you can watch like before, although all but one of them are locked for now just like the ability to track Santa. While tracking Santa doesn't unlock until Christmas Eve, which is December 24th, the videos should unlock before then, but they're currently listed as unavailable when you tap on them. To keep you and anyone else using the app busy, Google still has eight other games in the app that are playable alongside the new one, and if it's the little things that really grab your attention, tapping on Santa on the main screen results in him letting out a rousing Ho Ho Ho as he gives you a friendly wave. You can do this over and over and nothing else happens, but that shouldn't take away from the enjoyment.
