The Amazon Tap is one of three ways to get a speaker with Alexa built in. The other two are the Echo and Echo Dot. All of which serve different price points and different markets. The Echo Dot is the cheapest of the three, and needs to be connected to another speaker, like the UE BOOM 2. Then the Amazon Echo is a full-on Bluetooth speaker, but it is not portable. That is where the Amazon Tap comes in. This is a portable Bluetooth speaker with Alexa built in. However, unlike the Echo and Echo Dot, Alexa isn't always listening for your commands, you do need to tap the speaker to get it going.
With Alexa you can do things like ask her questions, have her order you an Uber, control your thermostat and even order you pizza from Domino's. And there's more and more that Alexa is able to do, as Amazon is adding plenty more integrations to Alexa just about every day. The Amazon Tap is usually around $129, priced right in between the Echo and Echo Dot, but today it's available for just $89. Making it a fantastic price to get started with some Alexa goodness.
