UMi is one of many Chinese smartphone manufacturing companies which are trying to make it out in the market. This company had released some interesting phones this year, including the UMi Super and UMi Plus smartphones. We were waiting to hear more about the company's new devices, and UMi had managed to surprise us and launch a new device out of the blue, the UMi Diamond, read on if you'd like to know more.
The UMi Diamond is a handset made out of metal and glass, and it sports a curved back much like the Xiaomi Mi Note and Mi 5. The company has used the TAX-1 glass in order to make this phone more durable, if UMi is to be believed, these glass plates are quite durable, which is good to hear. The UMi Diamond is actually quite a compact handset, it sports a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) 2.5D curved glass display, along with 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card). The device is fueled by the MediaTek MT6753 64-bit octa-core processor running at 1.5GHz, while the Mali-T720 GPU is also included here. You'll find a 2,650mAh battery on the inside of this smartphone, and that battery is not removable.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the UMi Diamond, and as it's usually the case, UMi did not go overboard as far as software goes, they have added some of their own features on top of Android, but nothing too heavy that would bog down your experience. The 8-megapixel snapper is placed on the back of the UMi Diamond, while you'll be able to find a 2-megapixel shooter on the phone's front side. This device comes with two SIM card slots (2 x micro SIM), while you can use the second slot to expand the device's storage. As far as 4G LTE is concerned, this is what the device offers: FDD-LTE: 800/1800/2100/2600 (B20, B3, B1, B7). Both the power / lock and volume rocker buttons are placed on the right-hand side of this phone, and the device comes in Black, Gold and White color variants. The device will become available for pre-order starting from October 20th for $99.99, and its regular selling price will be $119.99 once the pre-order period is over.
