OxygenOS 3.5.5 Open Beta Now Available For The OnePlus 3

If you own the OnePlus 3 then there is a fairly good chance that you are part of the community build program. If you are not, then you might want to join the program. The idea of the community build program is for OnePlus 3 owners to get advanced access to new features in a beta-style manner. So for those who want the latest OnePlus 3 goodness, the community build is the way to go. Speaking of which, OnePlus has now announced that the latest community build update is rolling out to users in the form of OxygenOS 3.5.5 Open Beta 6.

According to the changelog posted by OnePlus, the latest update brings with it a number of small but functional changes. The biggest addition is likely to be the inclusion of ‘OnePlus FileDash’ which OnePlus states will offer OnePlus 3 owners an easier ability to transfer files. Additional aspects included in the update are the ability to switch launcher layouts, Google Maps integration for sharing of “locational information in messages”, as well as a redesign to the UI for the phone’s calling feature. In addition, OnePlus notes that the update also allows the user to add a personalized ringtone for contacts, greater call history information, as well as the as-to-be-expected general bug fixes and system improvements. Last but not least, the update also includes a “OnePlus Community App”.

In terms of the update, OnePlus notes that if you are already part of the community build program than you will receive this latest update as an OTA. If you are not part of the program, then you will of course, need to flash this current version to take advantage of the new features and benefits. Although, OnePlus does also remind users that if they do flash over to the community build, they will stop receiving ‘official OTAs’ while they remain part of the program. In short, those users will need to flash back to an official build to rejoin the official OTA update roll outs.
