Oculus has had a big day today with more than a few new announcements that have hit the wire, and one of those was a new sound solution that they will be providing to Oculus Rift owners, with a pair of in-ear headphones that Oculus are simply calling Earphones. Their simple name certainly evokes their simple goal, to offer up a potentially better sound solution to those who are using a Rift headset and judging by the image above, that's just what plenty of Rift owners will get, should they be wanting a way to listen to their content without having to wear a wired set of headphones.

The Oculus Earphones for Rift appear to clip onto the headset itself using what looks like a magnetic connection design, with the earbuds sitting just above the ear allowing wearers to bring the cord down and pop the buds right in. While this might not be the solution for everyone, especially those who revel in the ownership of the nice over the ear style of cans that come with the Rift, Oculus states that the $49 Earphones will be able to satisfy anyone, even audiophiles, and that seems to suggest that the company has put a lot of development and hard work into making these a truly enjoyable pair of earbuds that can enhance the experience of Rift's VR wonder world.

How enjoyable they may be to audiophiles is yet to be clear, and that's a notion that's really subjective anyway, as one audiophile may have a completely different response to them than another. Having said that, $49 is a pretty good price for a pair of headphones that don't get in the way of what you're doing, which is immersing yourself in all manner of virtual reality content. Oculus' Earphones will go on sale soon according to the company, set at the $49 price listed above and they will be available from Oculus' own website on October 10th for pre-order, which is just four days away. Although pre-orders are just around the corner, though, Oculus also states that the Earphones won't actually ship until December 6th, so using them will still be a ways off. Having said that, they will still be available in time for Christmas, which is sure to be perfect for those seeking gift ideas for Rift owners. Oculus Earphones are just one announcement among the handful that were unveiled today, including a new standalone VR headset, as well as a demo version of Facebook's Messenger for the VR platform which was shown off earlier this morning.
