Google has just introduced two new Pixel (formerly known as Nexus) devices, the Google Pixel and Pixel XL. We’ve already covered main announcements for both of these smartphones, and as it’s usually the case, we’ll take a closer look at what each of these smartphones have to offer. That being said, we’re here to dig deeper into the Google Pixel’s specifications, so, let’s take a look at what the smaller Pixel handset has to offer, shall we?
The Google Pixel is actually considerably smaller than the Google Pixel XL, as it sports a 5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080, 441 PPI) AMOLED display, which is slightly smaller than the display Nexus 5X shipped with. This display comes with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4 protection on top of it, in case you were wondering. This smartphone is fueled by the Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core SoC running at 2.15GHz, along with the Adreno 530 GPU for graphics. The device packs in 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 128GB of internal storage (expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card). The 2,770mAh non-removable battery (it will last you 552 hours on standby, 32 hours of talk time, says Google) is included here as well, and on the bottom of the phone you’ll notice a Type-C USB port. The 12.3-megapixel snapper (Sony’s IMX378 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, 1.55um pixel size, PDAF) is placed on the back of this smartphone, and below it, you’ll notice a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. As far as this phone’s selfie shooter goes, Google and HTC have opted to include an 8-megapixel snapper (Sony’s IMX179 sensor). This is an unlocked device, and it does offer 4G LTE connectivity (Category 12), while it also supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging. You’ll need a nano SIM card in order to use this device to its full capacity, and NFC is also a part of the package.
Android 7.1 Nougat comes pre-installed on this handset, and comes with the company’s new launcher, the so-called Pixel Launcher which you’ve already had the chance to try out considering it leaked several weeks ago. The Google Pixel measures 143.8 x 69.5 x 8.6mm, while it weighs 143 grams. This smartphone comes in Quite Black, Really Blue and Very Silver color variants. These two devices will work with the Project Fi, and are Daydream VR ready as well.
