Google Pixel to Go On Sale October 20th According to Rogers

In case you hadn't noticed, there are new smartphones on their way from Google, dubbed the Pixel and Pixel XL, and today is the day that we finally see Google announce them to the world. We've seen leak after leak surrounding these new devices, and there's little that we don't know at this point. With Verizon and Carphone Warehouse spilling the beans on specifications and possible pricing ahead of time, there's only really the date of which they go up for sale. Thankfully though, Canadian carrier Rogers is now letting that out of the bag as well, as they're teasing October 20th as the date that these will become available on the Canadian network.

Considering that October 20th is only two weeks or so away from today's launch, October 4th, it seems as though Google is looking to get these devices into the hands of users pretty soon after the announcement. Which has become something of a trend throughout 2016, with big names like Samsung announcing and then launching a new device soon afterwards. Of course, there is a chance that this October 20th date is only particular to Rogers and perhaps Canada as a whole. Whether or not that's the case is something we'll have to wait and see until after the day's announcements are all said and done. The teaser was posted on their official Facebook page earlier today, and appears to have been removed, similar to other teaser posts and pages that gone live ahead of time. Just as we saw earlier today, the teaser from Rogers describes Pixel as a "Phone by Google" and speaking of the Canadian carrier, they will be offering a bonus 2GB of data as well as a free $50 Google Play gift card as well.

Whether or not there are going to be more leaks ahead of today's event is unclear, but there's a lot that people can already gleam from leaks earlier this month, including the specs as well as the different colors that Google will have available. We'll be attending the event later, and Google fans the world over can tune in to the event live today starting 09:00 PST.

For years now I've had a heavy interest in technology, growing up with 8-bit computers and gaming consoles has fed into an addiction to everything that beeps. Android saved me from the boredom of iOS years ago and I love watching the platform grow. As an avid reader and writer nothing pleases me more than to write about the exciting world of Android, Google and mobile technology as a whole.
