Google Pixel / Chromecast Ultra Up For Pre-Order in Canada

It is no secret that today is all about Google. Today Google unveiled their new smartphones – the Google Pixel and the Google Pixel XL – gone is the Nexus name. What is really exciting is that Rogers is taking pre-orders and throwing in a bonus 2GB of data, a $50 Google Play credit, and Chromecast Ultra. The release date is October 20th with a price tag of $899 for the Pixel model and $1,049 for the Pixel XL. You can go to the Google Store now and pre-order the Google Pixel, Pixel XL, and the Chromecast Ultra.

Rogers is offering the 32GB Google Pixel for $199 on a two-year contract and 128GB model for $329 on a two-year contract. The Google Pixel XL will cost you $349 or $479 on two-year contracts based on your storage. On Telus, you can get a 32GB Black or Silver Google Pixel for $200 or a Silver only 32GB Pixel XL for $350 on a two-year contract. Koodo is selling the Black or Silver 32GB Google Pixel for $400 on a Tab Large plan or $904 on a no-term. For the Pixel XL (available in black only), the 32GB price is $550 on a Tab Large plan or a retail price of $1,054. Best Buy will also be selling the phones and are also giving away a $100 gift card as an incentive to buy either device from them.

The Google Pixel comes with a 5.0-inch AMOLED FHD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and 441 pixels-per-inch (PPI.) It is packing the newest Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor - said to give a 10-percent increase in performance over the 820 - and the Adreno 530 GPU. It packs 4GB of DDR4 RAM and either 32GB or 128GB of non-expandable memory. The excellent camera is a 12.3MP with a f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus (PDAF,) and dual-tone LED flash. The front-facing camera (FFC) uses a large 8MP sensor for selfies and video chatting. It uses a non-removable 2770mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 for rapid charging. You will also find a new Type-C reversible port for charging and data transfer and it includes a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Google Pixel XL has a 5.5-inch AMOLED QHD display with 534 PPI and a larger 3450mAh non-removable battery. No pricing was announced.
