ecobee Introduces $169 'Lite' Version Of Their Thermostat

Those looking for a smart thermostat to kickstart their smart home integration, need look no further than ecobee's new lite version of the ecobee3 which offers the same experience but at a price that is $80 less than their standard ecobee3 smart thermostat, as the ecobee3 lite comes in a price tag of $169. At a glance, you won't be able to tell the difference between it and the standard model, as it carries the same design and offers the same features. This means being able to control the ecobee3 lite with other smart IoT devices such as Amazon's Echo speaker that is powered by the Alexa software, as ecobee's thermostat plays nice with the technology.

If you've never had a smart thermostat in your home before, the benefits are actually quite direct, as ecobee boasts being able to save consumers an average of 23 percent on their energy bill annually. Keep in mind, this isn't 23 percent every single month, but if your annual energy bill racks up to thousands of dollars, 23 percent quickly racks up to a nice little hefty sum that you won't have to spend each year. Part of the way the ecobee3 lite will help you save is with the ability to understand what your local weather conditions are like, so if it's currently 60-degrees outside, then the ecobee3 lite will know to adjust the temperature inside based on the temperature outside, all automatically.

Currently, the ecobee3 lite is not actually available to purchase, but it is already available for pre-order at the above-listed price, and can be picked up both from Amazon as well as ecobee's main website. The actual launch of the device happens on October 31st, and purchases will be available through the same retail outlets mentioned above. In addition, it will be available at Best Buy's website, as well as the Home Depot website, and those in the U.S. looking to pick it up at a physical retail location will be able to buy it exclusively from Home Depot. The ecobee3 lite also comes along with a brand-new companion app that will be available to download from the Play Store following the launch.
