Official CyanogenMod Support Coming To ZTE's AXON 7 Handsets

The ZTE AXON 7 is certainly one of the most appealing flagship smartphones out there at the moment, especially for those of you who are not looking to spend a ton of money on a flagship device. The ZTE AXON 7 had been announced earlier this year, and it packs in top of the line specs, while it costs only $399, which makes it a direct competitor to the OnePlus 3, and a great alternative to a much more expensive smartphones like the Galaxy S7 (Edge), HTC 10, LG G5, etc.

That being said, the unofficial CyanogenMod 13 ROM landed on the ZTE AXON 7 quite recently, and it seems like the official one might be landing soon as well. As some of you might know, ZTE is not against unlocking bootloaders on the ZTE AXON 7 devices, the company even helps you do it, the company makes the whole process completely painless. Well, it seems like ZTE has partnered up with Cyanogen in order to deliver official CyanogenMod support to the ZTE AXON 7. The company has confirmed this info on their official website, they will provide both hardware and support to Cyanogen in order to make this happen. Do keep in mind that this doesn’t mean that the device will ship with CyanogenMod out of the box, because it will not, you will still need to unlock the bootloader and flash it manually. We do not know when will CyanogenMod officially land on the ZTE AXON 7, but we will keep you updated, the two companies will hopefully release more info soon.

The ZTE AXON 7 features a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) AMOLED display, 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of internal storage. This smartphone is fueled by the Snapdragon 820 processor, like many other flagships this year. The device comes with a 20-megapixel rear-facing OIS camera (f/1.8 aperture), and an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the device with ZTE’s MiFavor 4.0 UI, and a 3,250mAh battery is also included here. The phone is made out of metal, and you can find a fingerprint scanner on the back of this device. It is also worth mentioning that the ZTE AXON 7 comes with a set of front-facing stereo speakers which are actually quite great, and the phone generally has great audio capabilities / features.
