Leak: Huawei Mate 9 Appears in Multiple Colors

The Huawei Mate 9 is the next flagship in Huawei's portfolio to be refreshed. After the Mate 8 debuted in December (with the worldwide debut at CES in January), the Mate 9 has some pretty big shoes to fill. And it appears that Huawei is doing everything it can to fill those shoes. In a recent set of images that landed on Weibo, the Huawei Mate 9 was shown off in a slew of colors - all of which are shown below - and showing just about everything the Mate 9 may have to offer. Some of the colors include a pink (which will probably be called "rose gold" or something similar), black, silver, gold, yellow and a few more. It's definitely nice to see a smartphone available in so many colors, with most manufacturers only offering their flagships in two or three different colors.

Previous rumors had pointed at the Mate 9 sporting a Leica camera module, like the Huawei P9 did earlier this year. Of course, this speculation gained more fuel when Huawei and Leica decided to open their own R&D facility together, earlier this month. In these renders of the Huawei Mate 9, you can definitely see the dual-camera module on the back of the device. However, unlike the Huawei P9 and even the Honor 8, the cameras are not side by side in the left-hand corner. Instead they are in the center, and one on top of the other. With what looks to be a few sensors between them, with dual LED flash on the left side and laser auto-focus (possibly even phase detection auto-focus) on the right side. There's no information available as to why they changed the placement of the cameras on the Mate 9, it could be due to the larger size of the device, compared to the Huawei P9. Of course, we won't know that information until the device is officially unveiled.

Huawei's Mate line-up has been a huge success for them over the years. Largely due to them having somewhat large displays (except for the Huawei Mate S which sported a 5.5-inch display, versus a 6-incher on the others in the line), along with huge batteries. Battery life has always been stellar, despite the large display. This is mostly due to the devices having a 1080p - or even 720p on the original Mate (then called the "Ascend Mate"). And the same is expected with the Mate 9 when that debuts fairly soon.
