Google has an upcoming event on October 4 and while it does seem as though the company will be either announcing, introducing or launching various products, there does not seem to be that much for Android TV customers. At least, not in terms of new products. That said, the Xiaomi Mi Box which was announced back at Google I/O is expected to arrive soon. Although when it will arrive currently remains to be known.
As does the price. As Xiaomi has yet to confirm any availability or pricing details beyond confirming that it is coming to the US. That said, it seems like we might actually know the price of the Mi Box now as one has been spotted on a store shelf in the US. The image which is now surfacing is said to be from a Walmart store and it does very clearly seem to be the Mi Box. Why Walmart has the device on the shelves already is anyone's guess. Although what is far more important is that Walmart is listing the Mi Box as priced at only $69.
If this pricing is correct, then this is certainly a price which will make the Mi Box ultra-competitive. It has been thought that Xiaomi would need to price this device under $100 to fight off the likes and popularity of the NVIDIA SHIELD, and at $69, the pricing is significantly lower than the $100 marker and what many had believed the price to be. Especially considering this is a box which is expected to come with a number of additions including support for 4K and more. Of course as per anything like this, while the image does clearly seem to be confirming the price, until actual confirmation comes through from Xiaomi on this, nothing is certain. Although, it is worth mentioning that if Walmart has already stock of the device and has accidentally put it on some store shelves, then it does stand to reason that the Mi Box launch could be imminent. Which does mean an announcement on the Mi Box availability and firm details on pricing might not be that far away - Especially considering a rumor last month noted September 30 as the possible shipping date for the Mi Box.
