DEAL: PROBOX2 AIR Android TV Box With Remote+ Controller $99.99

Android TV is an interesting platform as it is one which allows your TV to make use of the Android operating system. However, it is also an emerging platform and this does mean that there is not that many products to actually choose from. Although, to make use of Android on your TV, you do not automatically need to buy an Android TV device. Instead, there is a whole other line of products you can use and these are more commonly known as Android boxes for your TV. These units look to provide an Android TV-like experience by providing you with access to all the Android apps you are used to, but without having to cast from another device. Like an Android TV device, these Android TV boxes simply plug into your TV and sit there much like any other console or set top box. Although unlike Android TV, these boxes often come with additionally useful apps pre-installed like Kodi.

The PROBOX2 AIR is good example of one of these Android TV boxes, as it is one which comes with all the pre-installed apps you will want including Kodi 16.0. In addition, this is an Android TV box which comes running on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) which means that it does come with all the benefits of Marshmallow including the likes of adoptable storage. This is where you can simply plug a USB or microSD card in to the device and have that external storage become your internal storage - instantly boosting the amount of storage you have to install and store apps on.

In terms of the rest of the specs, the PROBOX2 AIR comes packing 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and is powered by an Amlogic S905X quad-core processor. This is also an Android TV box which comes with support for 4K playback offering UHD 4K quality at 60fps and support for High Dynamic Range (HDR10) which helps to make colors richer, more vibrant and life-like. As well as support for Amlogic S905X, 2G / 16G, 100M LAN, 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI 2.0b, and HLG HDR processing.

In terms of apps, as this is not Android TV OS and is Android Marshmallow, you do have a much greater availability of apps to choose from, as the apps do not need to be optimized as much as they they do with Android TV. This also means it is fairly easy to apply a new launcher as well, so if you are more of the Nova Launcher persuasion, then there is nothing stopping you from applying that launcher once you download and install the app. In fact, the PROBOX2 AIR comes with a 1-click swap UI which literally allows the user to change the user interface by pressing down on the remote control's home key. Speaking of which, the included remote control is a remote+ controller which in addition to being able to connect to the PROBOX2 AIR, can also connect to other devices. As well as being able to be used as a games controller.

In terms of the price, the PROBOX2 AIR is currently available for only $99.99. Which makes it a much more affordable option than most of the current Android TV devices that are available. As the bundle does come with the remote+ controller, you really are getting everything you need to fully run Android on your TV.
