Canada Galaxy Note 7 Replacements To Begin Shipping Sep 19

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is currently in a state of recall. As such, sales had been halted in areas and those who had purchased the Galaxy Note 7 during its initial availability period are being asked to return the device for a replacement which will not suffer from the same battery issue. In Canada, that recall became official only a couple of days ago when both Samsung and Health Canada released a statement detailing the issue and asking for Galaxy Note 7 owners to return their devices.

Now it seems that Canadian Galaxy Note 7 owners who have enrolled in the recall program are starting to get the first indications of when they can expect to receive their new and issue-free Galaxy Note 7 replacement. According to the details coming in, those who signed up for the replacement program are now receiving emails confirming replacements will begin shipping out from September 19, next Monday. At the moment the emails do not seem to be providing any more information other than confirming that replacement handsets will begin shipping next week. That is probably not to say that all of the Galaxy Note 7 replacement units in Canada will begin shipping on Sep 19, but it does seem likely that is when the first batch will begin being sent out.

Interestingly, it was the same announcement by Samsung and Health Canada that provided some insight into the general sales of the Galaxy Note 7 in Canada, as well as the number of reported battery issues in the US. The announcement detailed that in total 21,953 Galaxy Note 7 units were sold in Canada (during the period which is subject to recall). Of that number only one issue has been officially noted with the battery. Which is in contrast to the 70 cases suggested to have occurred in the US during the same period. Of course, it is largely expected that the Galaxy Note 7 will have sold far more units in the US than the 21,953 units in Canada, so that 1:70 ratio is relative to the number of units sold in each location. Either way, if you live in Canada, own a Galaxy Note 7 and have enrolled in the replacement program, then next week should be when the replacements units start making their way out.
