Quite a bit has happened in the world of Android over this past week, most notably Samsung's Unpacked event that was held on August 2nd. As expected, Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 7 and revealed all the details of the device, putting the rumors to bed and leaving everything out in the open. Alongside the Galaxy Note 7 Samsung also revealed the all-new Gear VR headset, which is built with the USB Type-C port to support Samsung's new Note device, although it does come packaged with a micro USB adapter to support past Galaxy devices as well.
Samsung also finally launched the Gear 360 camera in the U.S., and Xiaomi unveiled their own VR headset although details of its availability were not given. This past week revealed leaked specifications for a couple devices including LG's upcoming V20 as well as the upcoming Nexus Sailfish phone, and a rumor surfaced stating that Verizon Wireless would be looking to rename the Nexus devices on their network, making them the second rumored carrier to potentially sell the phones once they're released. The new Nexus devices are rumored to be coming with a new launcher and a leaked version of it appeared this past week and is available for download, and OnePlus' Carl Pei denied rumors of a OnePlus 3 mini, essentially killing any hope consumers might have had for a smaller version of the phone they released this year.
