With the latest and greatest from Samsung, the Galaxy Note 7 now announced, it is expected that other smartphones will start to come down in price a little. Including those from Samsung. As the Galaxy Note 7 is now available to pre-order from various carriers, the likes of the Galaxy Note 5, the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge are all likely to end up as part of various promotions and sales with a view to retailers and carriers clearing out some of their excess inventory.
Which looked to be exactly the case for T-Mobile when a leaked memo was reported on yesterday. The memo detailed that from today, the same day that the Galaxy Note 7 was due to become widely available to pre-order, T-Mobile was planning to start reducing $200 off the cost of the Galaxy Note 5, the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge. This is now exactly what has happened. So if you are not so interested in picking up the Galaxy Note 7, but would like one of the more recent Samsung flagship smartphones then it seems T-Mobile is indeed now offering $200 off the price of these three handsets.
As is typically the case, there are some caveats in play though. Firstly, this is not a straight $200 discount off the initial purchase price and instead is one of those credit promotions, where you will see the discount being applied over time and broken down into monthly credits which are applied to your account. Secondly, you do need to port your number over to T-Mobile to take advantage of the promotion. As such, this does not seem to be a promotion which is open to already-existing T-Mobile customers. Thirdly, you do need to be signed up to a plan which includes 10GB data allowance as a minimum. It should also be expected that as this requires a new data plan, the plan will be subject to a full 24-month commitment. Last, but not least, this is a limited time promotion. Other than those particular obligations, if you are planning to move to T-Mobile, do want a Samsung Galaxy Note 5, or the Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge, then this might be a promotion worth checking out.
