Samsung Electronics enjoys the privilege and opportunity of being the Worldwide Olympic Partners in the wireless communications equipment category, and to commemorate the event the Korean company has prepared a handful of goodies and promotions for both Olympians as well as spectators. Not long ago the tech giant gifted 12,500 Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Games Limited Edition units to Olympians, and earlier today Samsung has announced a new promotion designed for spectators and Olympic Games fans in Rio, who now have an opportunity to collect pins, partake in Samsung activities, and win a variety of prizes.
Samsung Electronics is firing a new promotion in Rio, which allows fans of the Olympic Games to gather up to 30 specially-designed Olympic Games pins to showcase on a Rio 2016 decorated pin board. 22 pins are Olympic Games sport-themed, whereas 8 pins are Rio de Janeiro themed. The idea is for fans and spectators to collect the pins, and one lucky participant to collect all 30 pins will win a round-trip package for two to Tokyo, which will be the Host City of the 2020 Olympic Games. Furthermore, participants can win other prizes including a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Games Limited Edition (the same model that was gifted to Olympians), a pair of Samsung Gear IconX cord-free earbuds, and “other mobile accessories”.
Prizes aside, fans who want to participate in the Samsung Pin promotion can do so by visiting the Galaxy Studio in Olympic Park and completing what Samsung calls “interactive experiences” such as testing the Galaxy S7’s water-resistant capabilities by using the phone to “catch fish in a digital pond”, or visit the Galaxy S7 Lounge for hands-on product experiences, which will reward participants 1 pin – same as the fishing activity. Once fans collect 3 pins, they are awarded one pin board. Pins can also be earned by purchasing Samsung products at the Galaxy Studio, and Samsung lists devices such as the Samsung Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7, the Galaxy Note 5, and of course the Samsung Galaxy S7 series and its predecessor. It’s worth noting that, besides the Galaxy Studio in Olympic Park, fans can earn pins from other locations (Galaxy Studios) throughout Rio and other cities in Brazil.
