Samsung Exec: Not Launching Note 5 In Europe Was A Mistake

The Galaxy Note 7 has been announced today during Samsung's press event in New York. The company has introduced their latest flagship phablet, and thanks to a number of rumors and leaks we've seen in the last couple of weeks, the South Korea-based tech giant has failed to surprise us. That being said, the Galaxy Note 7 is a true powerhouse, it builds upon Galaxy Note 5's design language, though this time around the device comes with the 'Dual Edge' display, similar to the one used in the Galaxy S7 Edge handset. This display is, however, larger, and the curve is not as pronounced as it is on the Galaxy S7 Edge.

Those of you who live in Europe and were interested in purchasing Galaxy Note 7's predecessor, the Galaxy Note 5, remember very well that Samsung did not make that smartphone available on the old continent last year. Samsung managed to annoy a lot of people by not making the Galaxy Note 5 available in Europe from the get-go, and the company's executive admitted that they were wrong earlier today. Samsung Europe's CMO, David Lowes, admitted that the company made a mistake by not offering the Galaxy Note 5 in Europe last year. He said this during the Unpacked event in London, here's the exact quote: "At Samsung we listen to our customers. We disappointed our Note fans by not bringing [the Note 5] to Europe". Over 10,000 Europeans signed a petition last year, angered by Samsung's decision, and Mr. Lowes said that Samsung definitely got the message, which is why they're making the Galaxy Note 7 available in Europe as well. The device will be available for pre-orders starting August 16th, and it will become available for purchase on September 2nd.

The Galaxy Note 7 sports a 5.7-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) Dual Edge Super AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable native storage. The device comes in two variants, one variant is equipped by the Snapdragon 820, while the other one comes with the Exynos 8890 SoC (will vary based on where you live). The 12-megapixel 'Dual Pixel' OIS camera is placed on the back of the Galaxy Note 7, and a 5-megapixel camera is located on the phablet's front side.
