The Meizu PRO 7 is one of the most leaked smartphones as of late. This handset is supposed to be a successor to the Meizu PRO 6 which was announced back in April, even though it will be more similar to the Meizu PRO 5, at least according to rumors and leaks. The Meizu PRO 6 sported a 5.2-inch display, and was fueled by MediaTek’s SoC, while the PRO 5 shipped with a 5.7-inch panel, and was fueled by Samsung’s Exynos SoC, and the PRO 7 is expected to ship with that same combination as well.
The Meizu PRO 7 and its curved display have leaked a number of times thus far, and the phone even surfaced on AnTuTu quite recently. Earlier this month, an image surfaced saying that the Meizu PRO 7 might arrive on September 3rd, and the image seemed to be taken from Meizu’s official Weibo (Chinese social media) page, even though we were unable to find it there. That being said, pretty much everyone assumed that the Meizu PRO 7 will arrive on September 3rd, but that might not be the case. If you take a look at the first image down below, you’ll get to see a very similar teaser image, the ‘PRO than PRO’ tagline is still here, but the background of the image and the date are different this time around. The image reports that Meizu plans to host an event on September 13th, not September 3rd, and considering the fact that the tagline is unchanged, we presume this is the very same event that was reportedly scheduled for September 3rd. In any case, we’re waiting to hear more from Meizu, but no matter which report is accurate, Meizu’s new flagship is expected to land in the first half of September.
Now, in addition to this new press event teaser image, an image of the actual device also surfaced. The second image in the gallery is the newly leaked image, and it allegedly shows off the PRO 7’s back, which is something we haven’t seen thus far. We’ve seen a number of images of this device showing off its front side where the curved display is placed, but not its back. We cannot confirm that this image is legit, nor that it belongs to the Meizu PRO 7, but considering the timing of this leak and the size of the device, it is certainly possible, even though this leak seems a bit fishy due to the design of the phone’s back. The main camera design reminds us of the Galaxy S4’s and Galaxy S5’s camera design, and its placement also seems a bit off, not to mention that the antenna lines are not well hidden, as they were on the PRO 6 and MX6 handsets. It is possible that this leak is legit, but not that likely, we’ll have to wait and see what happens in the coming weeks.
