While for many, Android Wear smartwatches will be the devices held in the highest esteem, they are certainly not the only options out there. In fact, Samsung's own Gear S2 has proven to be quite the popular smartwatch and although it runs on Tizen, it is compatible with any Android device type, and it has plenty compelling features to offer any consumer looking to take the plunge and grab a new smartwatch device. Normally, the Samsung Gear S2 ends up costing close to $300 at retail these days, but right now you can actually pick up the Gear S2 for just $224.99 for a bit of savings.
The Samsung Gear S2 comes with a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 360 x 360. On the inside it's powered by a dual-core processor which is paired with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. It carries a 250 mAh battery inside to keep it powered on all day and when it needs to recharge it can be placed on the wireless charging dock so there's no need to plug the watch in. It also features an IP68 certification making it resistant to water and dust, and it supports Bluetooth v4.1 as well as Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n. It also supports NFC and can now be used with Samsung Pay.
