YI 4K Action Camera Hits US Shores on July 12th

Xiaomi has been around for just under 6 years now, and have made quite the name for themselves. While they started out in 2010 making smartphones, they have since expanded to create many, many other products. Nowadays, Xiaomi makes smart TV sets, humidifiers, tablets, and even action cameras. Just to name a few of their products. While Xiaomi does have a store for the US, they don't sell many items in the US. Mostly battery packs and headphones, although their new Mi Box (Android TV set-top box) is coming to the US soon. And now, the YI 4K Action Camera is headed to the US as well. In fact, it'll be available next week. However, it is not being sold under Xiaomi's brand. In fact, it's being sold under "YI Technology".

On July 12th, YI Technology is launching their YI 4K Action Camera, and it'll be available for just $249. This is their competitor to the likes of GoPro. The camera, as you can probably tell by the name, does shoot in 4K. In fact it shoots at 30FPS in 4K, when it drops down to 1080p, you have the ability to shoot in 120FPS and 720p can do even slower slow-motion at 240FPS. The camera does also allow you to take 12-megapixel photos, and it features a 155-degree wide-angle lens which also has a f/2.8 aperture. The lens here is the Sony IMX377 (the same sensor found in the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X) as well as 7 layers of glass and the Ambarella A9SE75 chip. The YI 4K Action Camera does also sport a 2.19-inch LCD display, which is a touchscreen display. It's rather low resolution at 640x360 however. Powering the YI Action Camera is a 1400mAh battery which is rechargeable. YI Technology touts that this battery can record up to 120 minutes of 4K at 30FPS. Obviously the battery will last longer if you are shooting in 1080p. It does also sport built-in Bluetooth as well as WiFi on 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, to connect with the wireless remote control as well as the YI Action App that is available for Android.

YI Technology is selling the camera, as well as part of a bundle. The camera by itself is $249. While the bundle includes a Selfie Stick and Bluetooth Remote for $30 more, with a price of $279. You can pre-order them now on Amazon, and they will ship on or before July 12th.
