Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Will Launch In August, Analyst Says

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is one of the most rumored / leaked devices recently. This is Xiaomi’s upcoming phablet, and a successor to the company’s first-gen ‘Mi Note’ devices which arrived in January last year. Xiaomi had already introduced their flagship smartphone for this year, the Xiaomi Mi 5, and their flagship phablet is right around the corner. We’ve already seen a number of leaks regarding the company’s Mi Note 2 device, and the company’s co-founder, Lin Bin, did say that Xiaomi’s ‘new flagship’ will launch in July. Was he referring to the Mi Note 2? Well… read on.

Xiaomi had released an official Mi Note 2 teaser via their Weibo (Chinese social network) page quite recently, and a rumor we’ve shared earlier today said that the phone might launch on July 25th. This info actually seemed plausible, mainly because of the company’s odd teaser, but it seems like a China-based analyst does not agree with that. Pan Jiutang, a well-known analyst, said via Weibo that the Mi Note 2 will be announced next month. He did not elaborate further on his statement, but it seems like he’s convinced Xiaomi will not release that phone this month. Let’s presume that info is accurate, what device was the company’s exec referring to then? The Xiaomi Mi 5s perhaps? Well, it is possible, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens, of course.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is said to launch in several variants, and the most expensive model might ship with the ‘Dual Edge’ display, and 6GB of RAM, while it will (allegedly) cost around $600. The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is expected to ship with a 5.7-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display (all variants), and 4GB / 6GB of RAM on the inside. Both the Snapdragon 820 and the unannounced Snapdragon 823 have been mentioned, and the highest-end Mi Note 2 variant is said to ship with 256GB of storage (UFS 2.0) on the inside. The 16-megapixel OIS camera is tipped to be this phone’s main shooter, and a 4,000mAh battery has also been mentioned in a number of rumors thus far. No matter whether this phone will arrive this or next month, it sure seems appealing, to say the least, if the rumors are accurate, of course.
