Samsung has always been a pretty big sponsor of the Olympics, which also means that they put out some special editions of their flagships for the Olympics. And with the attention being on Rio for the 2016 Summer Olympic games, it's about time that Samsung put out a special edition of the Galaxy S7 Edge. There have been plenty of leaks and rumors about this device, showing us exactly what Samsung is going to put out. And today, they made it official, with very little in terms of surprises here.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Games Limited Edition was unveiled at the Team USA Road to Rio event taking place in Chicago today. Samsung is also delivering around 12,500 of these models to all of the Rio 2016 Olympians competing for the USA. Samsung says in their press release that doing this will help "enhance their experiences in Rio and communicate with family and friends around the world more conveniently." Samsung will be making this special edition of the Galaxy S7 Edge available at Best Buy beginning on July 18th. It'll only be sold in the US and only at Best Buy. Samsung did also state that there will be a limited number of the Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Games Limited Edition smartphones available. However they did not mention the exact number that will be available.

Samsung isn't stopping with the 2016 US Olympic Team either. They will be supplying a Paralympic Galaxy S7 Edge edition for all the members of the 2016 US Paralympic Team. Another nice gesture by Samsung for the Paralympic team that will be competing this year. As expected, the specs of the Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Games Limited Edition are the same as the original Galaxy S7 Edge. Which means we are looking at a 5.5-inch curved Super AMOLED QHD display, powered by the Snapdragon 820 processor, with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. There is a 3600mAh battery inside that will keep it powered all day long. Additionally, there is a 12-megapixel camera on the back, which many reviewers have stated is the best camera available on a smartphone right now. And it'll be available on July 18th at Best Buy locations within the US.
