Moto Mods Manager & Projector Apps Launch in the Play Store

Today, the Moto Z and Moto Z Force officially launched at Verizon - of course these are the "DROID Editions" and will be exclusive to Verizon for a little while, the exact time-frame has not been made public. But that's not all that Lenovo has launching today. They have also launched two new applications into the Play Store, that will be used with these two new smartphones. They are Moto Mods Manager and Moto Mods Projector. And they basically do what you'd expect, judging by the name.

The Moto Mods Manager is needed to manage your Moto Mods, to put it simply. This includes adjusting the settings of the Moto Mods, getting software updates and checking the battery level of these mods. Especially important for the battery pack Mod that Incipio is selling for the Moto Z and Moto Z Force. Of course, this app is not compatible with other smartphones, seeing as there are only two smartphones that are compatible with Moto Mods, it only makes sense.

The second app is Moto Mods Projector, and as you'd expect, it's to manage the Pico Projector mod that is also available for the Moto Z and Moto Z Force. The app doesn't do much, but it allows you to adjust the brightness and keystone correction of the Insta-Share projector. The rest of the management is actually done through the Moto Mods Manager app. These apps are pre-installed on both devices, but putting them into the Play Store means that Lenovo can update them without pushing out a software update.

Moto Mods aren't quite "modules" in fact, Lenovo has never called them a "module" and kept to just "mods". But they do allow you to add functionality onto your Moto Z or Moto Z Force. There are currently three Moto Mods available. One is a battery pack from Incipio, another is a speaker Mod from JBL and the third is the Pico Projector. All of which are available at Verizon, Best Buy and Costco, but the two smartphones are currently only being sold for Verizon. Lenovo will be selling the Moto Z unlocked later this Fall. With the Moto Z Force being exclusive to Verizon and it won't be available outside of the US either.
