Jide's Remix OS For PC Gets Updated To Marshmallow

Jide’s Remix OS for the PC is getting a bump in version number today, as Jide has just released a free downloadable version update that brings Remix OS for PC users forward to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. When it comes to productivity on Android, few are doing things better than Jide, which have taken the Android operating system that you know and love on mobile devices and have skinned things in such a way that it looks and feels like Android in a form that is akin to Windows, complete with the capability to open up multiple app windows at once, resize them to your liking, and even access apps and other open services by way of an ever present taskbar.

For those who will be new to Remix OS following this update, Jide states that there are a wide range of computers that will be able to access and install the new Android Marshmallow-based version of the software, as most PC and Mac desktops and laptops with an Intel chip inside will be compatible. Building off of that, today’s update also adds more support for NVIDIA and AMD GPUs, which means “dozens of more” PCs are compatible with Remix OS for PC according to Jide.

In addition to a larger list of compatible PCs, the latest version of Remix OS also improves upon the multi-window functionality. Jide have improved the multi-window experience in a few different ways, but most notably is the ability to essentially fit open app windows to what Jide says will be the “perfect size” for the app’s content. The idea behind this was to allow the app to remain in an optimal layout. This is all made possible through a simple one click button so users won’t have to resize things themselves, making it automatic and faster. Users can still resize Windows manually, though, albeit in an improved manner as well, and users can now click and drag from any part of the window’s edge to start resizing instead of being forced to click and rag from the corner. Lastly, this update also introduces a full-screen view for videos apps after they have been maximized. Whether you’re a new user to Remix OS for PC or an existing user, the new version of the software is available to download now at Jide’s website.
